At Catering By John Lowe, our story is as exceptional as our cuisine. Based in Berks County, Pennsylvania, we’re a family-owned catering company founded by John Lowe—a Navy veteran who honed his skills aboard an aircraft carrier, serving over 7,000 meals a day in the Mediterranean. After refining his talent at the Culinary Institute of America and excelling as an executive chef in the tri-state area, John launched his catering business in 1992.​
Joined by his wife, Susan—formerly the Director of Catering for both Korman Suites and the Holiday Inn of West Chester—our innovative approach quickly captured the attention of high-end clients seeking something beyond standard hotel fare. Today, our award-winning team—made up of dedicated professionals and family members, including John and Susan’s daughters, Jenn and Ann—crafts customized menus that blend modern culinary trends with timeless classics.

John founded Catering by John Lowe in 1992 after a decorated culinary career that began in the U.S. Navy, where he cooked aboard an aircraft carrier. He went on to graduate from the Culinary Institute of America and lead kitchens in high-end hotels, restaurants, and nightclubs throughout the tri-state area.

A lifelong foodie with a love for bold flavors and creative presentation, John’s journey to the kitchen started at age 12—after a busboy mishap landed him in the dish pit. He hasn’t looked back since. Today, he leads the team with that same passion, crafting unforgettable menus and experiences for every event.

Sue Owner & Team Mom
With decades of experience in hotel catering sales and a deep love for hospitality, Susan helped transform John’s culinary vision into the successful, family-owned business it is today. Known as our “team mom,” she keeps everything (and everyone) running smoothly with her signature blend of warmth, organization, and attention to detail.

Susan takes pride in helping couples celebrate life’s biggest moments and loves seeing guests genuinely enjoying themselves. When she’s not overseeing events, she’s at home doting on her English Bulldogs—her other favorite crew.

Ann Director of Food & Beverage
Ann likes to say she’s been attending the “Culinary School of John Lowe” for 37 years — no diploma needed, just a lifetime of hands-on experience in a fast-paced family kitchen. By 15, she was leading catering teams twice her age at major university events.

As Director of Food and Beverage, Ann does it all — menu design, fleet management, dish duty, you name it. Her secret sauce? A fearless work ethic, a whole lot of heart, and the ability to lead by example. Off the clock, you’ll find her spending time with her family, escaping escape rooms, painting by numbers, or discovering her next favorite restaurant.

Jennifer Director of Sales
As Director of Sales, Jennifer brings calm to the chaos of event planning. With years of experience in her family’s business, she’s a pro at turning stress into smooth sailing — often ending calls with a client’s sigh of relief and a smile on her face.

Armed with a fine arts degree from Kutztown University, Jennifer adds creativity to every detail she touches. When she's off the clock, you’ll find her soaking up family time, stitching her latest cross-stitch project, or deep into a true crime binge.



Chef Dexter Executive Chef
Chef Dex fell in love with the kitchen watching chefs work under pressure with passion and precision. That same energy fuels him today, as he leads our culinary team with skill, heart, and a commitment to creating dishes that make people happy — because for Dex, that’s what it’s all about.

Since joining us in 2020, he’s brought big-league experience from Center City Philadelphia restaurants, but says his favorite part of the job is the people he works with every day. Outside the kitchen, Dexter’s cheering from the sidelines at dance competitions and track meets with his kids.

Chef Sterling Sous Chef
Chef Sterling brings serious flair to the plate — with a passion for food that’s unmistakable (even if he doesn’t eat meat himself!). After starting in the corporate world, he found his culinary home with us over four years ago, where his creativity truly shines.

Sterling loves working alongside a team that feels like family, and outside the kitchen, you’ll find him chasing his other passions: live music, new restaurants, and quality time with loved ones.

Charlie Prep Cook
For the past 14 years, Charlie has been an essential part of the Catering by John Lowe team, bringing reliability, heart, and a rock-solid work ethic to every event. With a background as a prep cook and dishwasher, he takes pride in every task—from keeping the kitchen running smoothly to ensuring each plate starts with care and precision.

When he's not in the kitchen, Charlie treasures time with his three grandchildren—soaking up every smile, story, and moment together.

Colleen Operations Manager
With over 13 years on the team, Operations Manager Colleen Romasky brings heart, hustle, and serious know-how to every event. A classically trained pastry chef and former bartender-turned-server, she’s done it all — and loves turning “forever moments” into unforgettable memories.

Colleen thrives on the support and camaraderie within the company, and when she’s not running the show, she’s spending time with her kiddo doing puzzles, coloring, or checking in on the beehives at our commissary.



Conor Front of House Manager
Conor joined us as a Front of House Manager in August, bringing a well-rounded background as a restaurant manager, bartender, and prep cook. He’s all about teamwork and says the best part of the job is working alongside such a great crew.

When he's off the clock, you’ll find Conor fishing, lifting at the gym, or getting his hands dirty in the garden.

Jenna Administrative Assistant
Jenna is the glue that holds the office together — keeping everything running smoothly with heart and precision. She loves being part of the Catering by John Lowe family and finds joy in helping couples plan a wedding day as unforgettable as her own.

Outside the office, Jenna soaks up quality time with her husband and pets, and you’ll often find her curled up with a good book — ideally somewhere high up in the mountains.

Tracy Marketing Manager
Tracy joined the Catering by John Lowe team in 2023, bringing with her 15 years of expertise in digital marketing. As our Marketing Manager, she is the creative force behind our social media, website, and behind-the-scenes SEO, ensuring our brand stays fresh, engaging, and easy to find.

A self-proclaimed foodie, Tracy's passion for all things culinary extends far beyond marketing. When she's not crafting compelling content, you’ll find her exploring new restaurants, experimenting in the kitchen, binge-watching chef shows, diving into chef memoirs, and capturing mouthwatering food photography.
